The work on this site is original bureau journalism unless a story says otherwise. Do not scrape it, republish it, or pass it off as your own. Quotations, documents and public records appear under ordinary news reporting. Commentary is labelled as argument.
The stories
Every dispatch is published in full on this site. Links inside a story are for context, not a requirement to finish the piece somewhere else. If a page is in the archive, it stays in the archive unless a legal or safety reason forces a change, in which case we say so.
Corrections
Corrections run on the story. If you believe we have something wrong, write washington@macleans.us with the URL and the fact in dispute. The bureau chief signs off on the change.
Accounts and newsletters
A Washington Briefing subscription is a mailing list, not a membership. We may stop a list that is being abused. You may leave it at any time.
Trademarks
Maclean’s is a trademark of the magazine’s publisher. The Washington Bureau uses the same wordmark because it is the same magazine, working from a different capital.
Governing sense
These terms are written with an eye to both Canadian and American readers, because that is who we write for. The magazine’s house remains in Toronto. The bureau remains in Washington.
